The Soldotna Crop is a crowd favorite colorwork project for all seasons. Choose your color palette for a high contrast statement, or a more down to earth neutral knit that matches your whole wardrobe.

 

Knitted up in DK weight yarn and with short sleeves, the Soldotna creates a light weight garment that can carry you through spring days or fall nights. This is the perfect class for a first-time colorwork knitter who wants to end up with something impressive and wearable all year round.

Required Materials: 

We hope you'll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

Yarn: This pattern requires four DK weight yarns totaling between 924 and 1400 yards depending on size. The pattern goes into detail on exactly how much of each color is required. Note: If you would like to add length to the body or sleeves, you will need more yardage.

Recommended yarns from the shop: Muse & Method The To-Go Full Skeins & Minis, Malabrigo Rios, Rambouillet DK, Kathmandu DK, Cascade Merino DK and Eco Merino DK, The Fibre Co Acadia

Needles: 

  • US 3 32" circular for ribbing
  • US 5 24" to 32" circulars for the body

Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn or barber cord, tapestry needle, scissors

Class Policies

  • All class fees are non-refundable. If you have a conflict, you must notify us 48 hours before the start date of your first class in order to receive store credit. We will always do our best to help you reschedule, but it may not always be possible.
  • Our group classes are for students ages 12 and up. Younger students are welcome to join us for private lessons. We highly recommend a parent or guardian be present for the duration of the lesson. 
  • No store credit will be issued for unattended classes and no store credit will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the first class.
  • We put the health and safety of all our staff and community members first. If you have been exposed to Covid or you are otherwise feeling unwell, we ask that you please stay home.
  • We have a class minimum of 3 students, so it’s never a bad idea to sign up with a friend or two! If you are the only student that signs up for one of our classes, we will contact you ahead of time and issue a full refund if there is a cancellation on our part.
  • We understand that sometimes students need some extra help outside of class, so we offer Project Support and Private Lessons. 
  • For our students to get personalized attention, we like to keep our class sizes small. For this reason, we require students to sign up in advance for all of our classes, lessons, and project support sessions.
