Say hello to your next groovy knit!

SIX Wednesdays from 6-8pm on the following dates: Sept 16th, Oct 7th & 28th, Nov 11th, Dec 2nd & 16th

Bea Fischer-Harrison’s Wavelength Cardigan is an out of the box way to take your next steps into learning about knitting construction. This intermediate level project is perfect for the knitter who has a few garments under their belt and feels comfortable with the basics of garment construction, but wants a challenge with a modern twist.

The Wavelength Cardigan is knitted from the top down, with smart details that work into the all-over cable pattern. The collar is knit last and can be adjusted and worked as depicted or replaced with a traditional ribbed folded collar, for those that do not want a polo collar.

This class has been scheduled with more time in between each class to allow for the amount of knitting we will be doing!

What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class):  How to knit and purl both in the round and flat, how to knit in a small circumference, how to pick up stitches

What you'll learn in this class: How to work cables and read cable charts, how to measure gauge in a cable pattern, (optionally) how to knit a folded collar or polo collar

Required Materials:

We hope you'll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

Yarn: This pattern calls for 957 to 2582 yards of non superwash worsted weight wool. Superwash wool is not recommended so that the cardigan maintains its structure and the cables are easier to work

Recommended yarns from the shop include: Cascade 220, Rosarios 4 Terra, Soft Donegal Tweed

Needles:

  • US 6 circular needles in 16”, 32”/40” length, and your preferred format for working small circumference
  • US 4 circular needs in 16”, 32”/40” length, and your preferred format for working small circumference

Notions: tapestry needle, scissors, removable stitch markers, cable needle, stitch holder cord or waste yarn

What you'll get:

  • Six 2-hour class sessions with expert instruction by Keish
  • Wavelength Cardigan pattern  (PDF via email & in your Ravelry library)

This class is intended for adults 18+. For inquiries, please reach out to breean@knit1chgo.com
