Take your knitting skills to the next level with this show-stopping scarf that nobody will believe you knit yourself!
The Chiaroscuro by Alessandra Gropazzi features nine strips of purled garter stitch knit at the same time from nine balls of yarn. Strips are physically twisted at regular intervals and re-joined to create a twisted fabric.
The unique twisted structure of this scarf plays wonderfully with shadow and depth to create a truly striking accessory!

What you'll learn: Crochet chain cast-on and cast-off, twisted selvedge edges, joining twists, how to read your knitting, dividing yarn and yarn management
Required Materials:

Yarn: For this pattern, you have the choice of:
- Option A: 656 yard of fingering weight held together with 656 yards of lace weight yarn OR
- Option B: 656 yards of single sport weight yarn
Recommended yarns from the shop: Lamana Como and Como Tweed, Lama Premia, Muse & Method Twist and The Floofs, Malabrigo Arroyo, Kellbourne Woolens Scout, Plucky Luxe Merino Light Sport
Hook: US E4
Needles: US 4 knitting needles (interchangeable recommended)
Notions: removable stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, spare DPN or cable needle for twisting strips

- The Chiaroscuro Scarf pattern (PDF via email & in your Ravelry library)

Class Policies
- All class fees are non-refundable. If you have a conflict, you must notify us 48 hours before the start date of your first class in order to receive store credit. We will always do our best to help you reschedule, but it may not always be possible.
- Our group classes are for students ages 12 and up. Younger students are welcome to join us for private lessons. We highly recommend a parent or guardian be present for the duration of the lesson.
- No store credit will be issued for unattended classes and no store credit will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the first class.
- We put the health and safety of all our staff and community members first. If you have been exposed to Covid or you are otherwise feeling unwell, we ask that you please stay home.
- We have a class minimum of 3 students, so it’s never a bad idea to sign up with a friend or two! If you are the only student that signs up for one of our classes, we will contact you ahead of time and issue a full refund if there is a cancellation on our part.
- We understand that sometimes students need some extra help outside of class, so we offer Project Support and Private Lessons.
- For our students to get personalized attention, we like to keep our class sizes small. For this reason, we require students to sign up in advance for all of our classes, lessons, and project support sessions.
