The FAB (fluffy ass brioche) cardigan is a loose-fitting raglan styel cardigan that is knitted in two-color brioche for a show stopping pop of color in your year round outerwear! Brioche creates a squishy, drapey, bouncy fabric especially when paired with a relaxed, slightly oversized design. Despite being worked up in bulky weight yarn, the FAB cardigan will still be light and lovely thanks to the airiness that brioche provides.
This class is the perfect next step for knitters who are already familiar with basic brioche knit and purl (BRK and BRP) and have successfully knitted a garment (not necessarily brioche). Carissa, our resident brioche expert, will take you through all of the special techniques to get the cardigan of your dreams will furthering your brioche knowledge!
What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class): Long tail cast on, brioche knit, brioche purl, how to knit twisted rib, how to pick up stitches
What you'll learn in this class: Brioche increases, brioche decreases, Italian cast on and cast off, how to create a double knit button band
Required Materials:

Yarn: This cardigan requires two colors of a bulky weight yarn Note: Non superwash is always the better option for brioche garments as brioche has a tendency to be very stretchy and grow quite a bit after blocking
- Color A: 480 to 720 meters
- Color B: 320 to 640 meters
Recommended yarns from the shop: Spincycle Plump, Malabrigo Chunky, Beatrix, Lang Cloud, Lumina, Piuma Cashmere
Needles:
- US 11 circular needles in 16", 24" and 32" to 40" length
- US 10 24" circular needles
Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn or barber cord, tapestry needle, scissors

Class Policies
- All class fees are non-refundable. If you have a conflict, you must notify us 48 hours before the start date of your first class in order to receive store credit. We will always do our best to help you reschedule, but it may not always be possible.
- Our group classes are for students ages 12 and up. Younger students are welcome to join us for private lessons. We highly recommend a parent or guardian be present for the duration of the lesson.
- No store credit will be issued for unattended classes and no store credit will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the first class.
- We put the health and safety of all our staff and community members first. If you have been exposed to Covid or you are otherwise feeling unwell, we ask that you please stay home.
- We have a class minimum of 3 students, so it’s never a bad idea to sign up with a friend or two! If you are the only student that signs up for one of our classes, we will contact you ahead of time and issue a full refund if there is a cancellation on our part.
- We understand that sometimes students need some extra help outside of class, so we offer Project Support and Private Lessons.
- For our students to get personalized attention, we like to keep our class sizes small. For this reason, we require students to sign up in advance for all of our classes, lessons, and project support sessions.
