Are you digging into the world of crochet, but having trouble understanding all this gauge business? Or maybe you want to understand how much yarn you really need when you make something longer. We know crochet can be really amazing…until suddenly, your sweater is two sizes too big and you have no idea why.
In this two hour deep dive, our resident expert Carissa will walk you through the basics (and not-so-basics) of crochet math, including understanding crochet gauge, crochet swatching, making basic alterations to patterns for better fit, and how to understand sizing.
Crochet math will help you leave behind that feeling like your projects are unpredictable, and put you in the driver’s seat of amazing stitches that work with your tension and not against it.
What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class): basic crochet skills, including basic stitches and how to work both flat and in the round
What you'll learn in this class: You'll learn how to better understand and achieve correct gauge, as well as what to do when your gauge just won't match. You'll also learn basic crochet construction math, and how use pattern measurement information to your advantage in choosing sizes or substituting yarn
This is the perfect class for a curious beginner or the experienced knitter that's never explored gauge or pattern math.
