Knit a Buttoned Peony Vest

Knit a quick vest with a wiggly, fun twist!

FOUR Sundays @ 10am-12pm: April 26th, May 3rd, 17th, & 31st 

The Peony Vest by Annie Sews is the perfect multi-season knit to stretch your knitting prowess as an adventurous beginner!

This vest uses a common sweater construction, starting along the back and moving to the front of the garment, eventually connecting under the arms and working down. 

Each row of knitting includes unique shaping for the signature wiggly button band.

Knitted in a chunky gauge without sleeves, this engaging project is quick to stitch, while teaching you many new skills.

Finish it off with stellar buttons for a year-round statement staple! 

What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class): Knit, Purl, knitting in a small circumference, picking up stitches 

What you'll learn in this class: German short rows, cable cast on, making button holes, Italian bind off 

Required Materials:

Yarn: 350 to 787 yards of chunky yarn – please note that the shaping on this garment requires yarn that holds its shape and meets both stitch and row gauge 

Recommended yarns from the shop: Malabrigo Chunky, Cascade 128 Superwash, Malabrigo Vientos, Cascade 220 (held doubled)

Needles: Select the needle size to best achieve gauge.

• US 10 circular needles (24" to 40" depending on garment size) 
• US 6 circular needles for ribbing (16", 24", or 32" for magic loop) 

Notions: Stitch markers, row counter, scissors, spare yarn or barber cord, and 7 buttons (we recommend you purchase buttons from our neighbor shop, Soutache)
