Knit a Musselburgh Hat

$95.00

Wednesdays from 6-8:30pm on the following dates: November 6th & December 11th

Do you have that one person in your life who needs an extra warm hand-knit gift, but also needs options?

The Musselburgh Hat is a perfect fit! This hat is knit as a tube, and can be worn in four different ways. No gauge swatch is required, and the majority of the hat is soothing stockinette. It's an excellent project for holiday gifts and those cozy evenings at home.

What you need to know: How to knit using a circular needle and knitting small circumference (magic loop or DPNs).

What you’ll learn: A tightening cast on for the crown, increases, decreases, adjusting your pattern based on your gauge, and possible color blocking options!

Required Materials:

Yarn: This pattern is written for everything between fingering and DK weight yarn, so the world is your oyster! We recommend at least 2 skeins of whatever yarn you choose. You may need less based on your gauge, but having two skeins will make sure you aren't playing yarn chicken. Having two different colors will mean you can play with color blocking!

Needles: Choose a needle size based on your knowledge of your tension and the recommended needle size for your yarn. If using sock yarn, use a needle a couple of sizes larger than you would use for socks. You'll need either DPNs or a needle for Magic Loop, in addition to a 16" circular.

Notions: Standard knitting notions (scissors, stitch markers, tape measure, etc.)

We hope you’ll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

What you'll get:

  • Two 2.5-hour class sessions with expert instruction by Theresa

  • The Musselburgh hat pattern by Ysolda Teague (PDF via email & in your Ravelry library)

This class is intended for adults. We welcome our younger knitters in private lessons only. For inquiries, please reach out to breean@knit1chgo.com.

Minimum enrollment of 2 students is required for class to take place.
