Knit a Folklore Cardigan with knitCompanion

$185.00

SIX Sundays from 10:00am-12:00pm on the following dates: February 9th & 23rd, March 9th & 23rd, April 6th & 27th

As we swift-ly head into the winter, it’s time to think about cozy cardigans! In this class, Theresa and Carissa are combining their skills to teach the Folklore Cardigan by Amy Gunderson. This would be a great pattern for any Taylor Swift fans out there or for anyone who is ready for an oversized cable sweater with varsity details.

Carissa will show you how to use knitCompanion, an app designed to help you keep track of knitting patterns and charts, and Theresa will lead you through ways to modify the pattern to reduce seaming.

Come join us for companionship and comprehensive instruction (friendship bracelets not required)!

What you need to know: how to knit & purl, how to knit in the round, and how to knit small circumferences (magic loop, DPNs, small circulars, etc).

What you’ll learn: Reading cable charts, using knitCompanion, different sloped shoulder shaping options, how to modify seamed patterns.

Required Materials:

Yarn: This sweater requires 1800-3600 yards of DK weight yarn, depending on your size. You’ll want a main color and a contrast color for the cuffs, ribbing, and neckline.

  • For the main color: 1575-3375 yards, depending on size

  • For the contrast color: 225 yards for all sizes

We recommend purchasing yarn before the class to ensure there is a sufficient quantity for your sweater!

Needles: For the first class, please bring a US 6 circular needle to gauge swatch. Required needles will be explained further during the first class.

Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn.

We hope you’ll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

This class is intended for adults. We welcome our younger knitters in private lessons only. For inquiries, please reach out to breean@knit1chgo.com. Minimum enrollment of 2 students is required for class to take place.
