Knit Toe Up Christmas Stockings!

$120.00

Mondays from 6-8:30pm on the following dates: November 11th & 25th, December 9th.

It’s not snowing yet, but now’s the time to cast on the hand-knitted Christmas stockings that you’ve always wanted. That gives you plenty of time to get them knitted and ready to hang on your mantel!

These adorable stockings are totally customizable for you and your loved ones. Choose the colorwork motifs for your stocking from a lovely array of options by Faye Kennington. There are so many from which to choose, you may just want to knit them all!

What you need to know: how to knit & purl in the round, and how to knit small circumferences (magic loop, DPNs, small circulars, etc).

What you’ll learn: Judy's Magic Cast On, M1L & M1R Increases, reading colorwork charts, stranded colorwork, catching floats in colorwork, German Short Rows, creating your own colorwork name charts, and an I-cord bindoff.

Required Materials:

  • Yarn: These stockings require approximately 100 grams of worsted weight yarn. The pattern samples all use three different colors, so approximately 33-34 grams for each color. There will be time during our first class to talk through yarn options if you haven't already purchased yarn.

  • Needles: Per the pattern, you will need size US 6 and size US 7 needles. The size 6 needles should be at least 30" long, since they will be used for magic loop when creating the toe. For the size 7 needles, you'll want whatever type of needles you prefer for small circumference knitting (DPNs, Magic Loop, small circulars).

  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn.

We hope you’ll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

What you'll get:

This class is intended for adults. We welcome our younger knitters in private lessons only. For inquiries, please reach out to breean@knit1chgo.com.

Minimum enrollment of 2 students is required for class to take place.
