Knit Cabled Colorwork Mittens
FOUR Tuesdays from 6-8:00pm on the following dates: January 14th, February 4th & 18th, March 4th.
Here at Knit 1, we believe one of the joys of creating is learning new skills. So, what better pattern than the Norrland Mittens, which combine stranded colorwork with cables to create two-color cables! Even better, these mittens start with a stunning cuff made with corrugated ribbing and a Latvian braid.
What you need to know: how to knit & purl in the round, how to knit small circumferences (magic loop, DPNs, small circulars, etc), how to cable, and how to knit stranded colorwork.
What you’ll learn: Corrugated Ribbing, working a Latvian braid, and how to read charts that combine cables and multiple colors!
Required Materials:
Yarn: These stockings require 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn. There will be time during our first class to talk through yarn options if you haven't already purchased yarn.
Needles: Per the pattern, you will need a size US 3 needle in your preferred style for small circumference needles (magic loop, Double Pointed Needles, Flexiflips, small circulars), or needle to achieve gauge.
Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn.
We hope you’ll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!
What you'll get:
Four 2-hour class sessions with expert instruction by Theresa
The Norrland Hat and Mittens pattern by Sara Burch (PDF via email & in your Ravelry library). Note: This pattern is a bundle that includes BOTH the hat and mittens. This class will only focus on the mittens.
This class is intended for adults. We welcome our younger knitters in private lessons only. For inquiries, please reach out to breean@knit1chgo.com. Minimum enrollment of 2 students is required for class to take place.
