Thank You, Crawlers
I've said it elsewhere, but I'll say it here: Wow. The YarnCrawl was beyond my wildest dreams! A few of my favorite moments: The mother and daughter team who did the WHOLE THING on public transportation-- It was a searingly hot day, but they were cheerful and fun and we visited and they found some great bargains and off they went! Yea for them!! The 3 sisters (2 from Missouri!) who came in breathless yesterday at 3:58 (I close at 4), to get their Passports stamped, fill out raffle tickets and do a bit of shopping. Great to meet them and so glad they stopped by; My friend Mary who came with her husband Pat from the suburbs at a quiet moment so we got to visit; and all the knitters and crocheters and crafters who ventured out in this blistering, humid weather to see our store, show us their projects, shop and become part of our Knit 1 community.
So, lest we wind down we start new projects! The One Sleeve Wrap kicks off this Wednesday evening at 6:30. I have ordered some beautiful Pacolana yarn from Schulana. It's a wool, alpaca microfiber blend which I think will be perfect for this garment. Eco Wool from Cascade is a great yarn for this too. Several people have done it in this and if you were at the Knitting Guild meeting in July you saw Fern's version which she modeled during Show and Share. Dream in Color Groovy is also a good choice, not as drapey but ohhh so much fun! And, Malabrigo Twist, a tad lighter but Malabrigo! Need I say more? I'm worried that the Pacolana won't arrive in time! What to do??? When life gives you lemons make wine!!! So, download your pattern here http://store.vogueknitting.com/p-276-one-sleeve-wrap.aspx and bring it in with you. If the yarn you want hasn't arrived, knit a swatch with the sample yarn I have, have a lovely glass of wine and a nice nosh and visit with me and your fellow KALers and when you pick up your yarn next week you can start right in. Umm, and wine available to those who have their yarn also! All yarn for the project is 15% off no matter when you get it. You will also need a cable needle. If you don't have one I have several to choose from.
