Jupiter Crop

$150.00

The Jupiter Crop by Caitlin Hunter is a beautiful, graphic sweater perfect for the warmer seasons. It features all over colorwork, making it fun and and totally addicting to work on. You will work with two colors at a time, and there are a few rounds with 3 colors to carry, which adds a bit of challenge to keep things interesting. Top-down design means you can try this sweater on as you go and alter the length as needed for your perfect fit. In class we will learn a technique for swatching in the round, color work basics and tips, top-down sweater construction, short rows, and tips for getting a perfect fit and finish.

What you need to know:
Students should already be somewhat familiar with sweater construction, meaning you’re comfortable knitting, purling, casting on, binding off, and working in the round, particularly at a small circumference. Experience with stranded colorwork is helpful, but not required.

What you’ll learn:
- Knitting stranded colorwork in the round
- Knitting stranded colorwork with 3 colors at a time
- German short rows
- How to achieve your perfect fit
- Blocking tips & tricks

Required Materials:
- Yarn: 749-1516 total yards of DK weight yarn with varying amounts of 5 different colors. Amounts will depend on which size you decide to make, and whether you choose to make any modifications (i.e. adding length).
- Needles:
Circulars of varying lengths in sizes US 3 and US 5, or needle size necessary to meet gauge. Suggested cord lengths for needles are not provided in pattern, but it is likely you will use a range from 16”-47” depending on the size you make.
- Notions: Stitch holders/barber cords/waste yarn, stitch markers, tapestry needle
