As the weather finally starts to warm up in Chicago, it’s time to prepare for sunny Spring days! And it’s the perfect time to get started on a project to wear this upcoming summer!
The Tolsta Tee by Rebecca Clow is a classic raglan t-shirt design that's perfect for all your warm-weather activities: a picnic in the park, a stroll around the art institute, or a bike ride along the lake shore.
This pattern offers several customization options, including a simple lace pattern, striping, and bust shaping. Theresa will guide you through creating a t-shirt that you'll be excited to wear for years to come!
What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class): How to knit and purl in the round, knitting in a small circumference (using double pointed needles or magic loop)
What you'll learn in this class: How to knit a top-down raglan sweater, gauge swatching for your sweater, raglan increases, using short rows for shaping, how to read and customize the pattern to create the Tolsta Tee of your dreams, and possible customization options like lace, stripes, and bust shaping

Yarn: The gauge is 17 stitches and 27 rows in stockinette = 10cm/4 inches. Though the pattern recommends 521 to 1104 yards of a DK weight yarn, dependent on size, in previous classes many knitters have used worsted weight yarn to achieve gauge.
Recommended yarns from the shop: Malabrigo Rios, Malabrigo Silky Merino, Malabrigo Verano, Mitchell Wool Co. Rambouillet DK, Juniper Moon Farms Ultimate Pima, Juniper Moon Farms Cotton + Merino, Juniper Moon Farms Cumulus, Katia Concept Cotton-Merino Tones, Plymouth Sea Isle
Needles: Circulars of varying lengths in sizes US 6 and US 8, or needle size necessary to meet gauge. Note: Suggested cord lengths for needles are not provided in the pattern, but you will use a range from 16”- 47” lengths depending on the size you make.
Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors

Class Policies
- All class fees are non-refundable. If you have a conflict, you must notify us 48 hours before the start date of your first class in order to receive store credit. We will always do our best to help you reschedule, but it may not always be possible.
- No store credit will be issued for unattended classes and no store credit will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the first class.
- We put the health and safety of all our staff and community members first. If you have been exposed to Covid or you are otherwise feeling unwell, we ask that you please stay home.
- We have a class minimum of 3 students, so it’s never a bad idea to sign up with a friend or two! If you are the only student that signs up for one of our classes, we will contact you ahead of time and issue a full refund if there is a cancellation on our part.
- We understand that sometimes students need some extra help outside of class, so we offer Project Support and Private Lessons.
- For our students to get personalized attention, we like to keep our class sizes small. For this reason, we require students to sign up in advance for all of our classes, lessons, and project support sessions.
