The Hyacinthus Armwarmers class is the perfect combination of a cute project with an incredibly useful knitting technique!
This three session class is the perfect way to learn "helical knitting," a technique that can be used to make jogless single row stripes, seamlessly integrate skeins of hand-dyed yarn in a project, and create slower fades with color-transitioning yarns.
What you need to know: how to knit & purl in the round, how to knit small circumference (magic loop, DPNs, small circulars, etc).
What you'll learn: Helical Knitting and Helical Knitting shaping adjustments
Required Materials:
Yarn:
- These armwarmers require approximately 100 grams of fingering weight yarn.
- If you are using two different colors, you will need on 50g skein in two different colors.
- If you are using a color transitioning yarn, you will need one 100g skein wound into two different balls.
Needles: Per the pattern, you will need size US 1.5 needles in whatever style you prefer for small circumference knittting (DPNs, Magic Loop, small circulars)
Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn

This class is intended for adults. We welcome our younger knitters in private lessons only. For inquiries, please reach out to breean@knit1chgo.com. Minimum enrollment of 3 students is required for class to take place.

Class Policies
- All class fees are non-refundable. If you have a conflict, you must notify us 48 hours before the start date of your first class in order to receive store credit. We will always do our best to help you reschedule, but it may not always be possible.
- No store credit will be issued for unattended classes and no store credit will be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of the start date of the first class.
- We put the health and safety of all our staff and community members first. If you have been exposed to Covid or you are otherwise feeling unwell, we ask that you please stay home.
- We have a class minimum of 3 students, so it’s never a bad idea to sign up with a friend or two! If you are the only student that signs up for one of our classes, we will contact you ahead of time and issue a full refund if there is a cancellation on our part.
- We understand that sometimes students need some extra help outside of class, so we offer Project Support and Private Lessons.
- For our students to get personalized attention, we like to keep our class sizes small. For this reason, we require students to sign up in advance for all of our classes, lessons, and project support sessions.
